Fisheries Dept. issues warning to naval and fishing communities

The Department of Fisheries has issued a warning to the naval and fishing communities to refrain from going out to sea.

The Department said that this warning has been issued following the weather forecast made by the Met Department. Therefore, multi-day trawlers as well as smaller fishing boats are asked to refrain from going out to sea.

--> Meanwhile, the Met Department says that the sea areas extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Galle and the sea area from Jaffna to Pottuvil could get rough.

Duty Meteorologist Pabodini Karunapala said that fishermen who engage in fishing activities in the area should take the necessary precautions and are advised to be vigilant on this matter.
