A large number of children in Mullaitthivu attended a medical camp conducted by the security forces. More than 230 Tamil and Muslim students in the area received free medical consultations from experienced general and dental medical practitioners.
Adults including the parents of the children and teachers also received medical advice and medicine. A total of about 400 patients were treated at the medical camp. The medical clinics were held at the Kaiveli Ganeshan Vidyalayam and at Kombavil Vigneshwaram Vidyalayam.
Security forces routinely conduct such medical camps for the benefit of the resettled communities of the north and east. Special attention is focused to cater to the needs of the children and elders in the backward villages where access to medical facilities are limited and difficult.
Millions of rupees worth medicine, wheel chairs, hand clutches and spectacles have been provided for people attending these camps free of charge.
