The date for accepting applications for obtaining temporary identification cards by the Department of Elections ahead of the upcoming Provincial Council Elections, has been extended until September 3.
The Elections Secretariat stated that the relevant applications can be obtained from Grama Seva officers and estate superintendents.
The application form, upon being completed, must then be accompanied with two copies with a photograph similar to that of a national identity card photograph and be handed over to the Grama Seva officer or estate superintendent.
The only documentation to establish one's identity that will be 25 accepted in view of the upcoming elections, will be the National Identity Card, valid driver's license, retired state employees identity card, identification card for clergy and, elders identity card or the temporary ID card issued by the Elections Department or Department of Registration of Persons
