The inaugural exhibition of the annual 'Kilinochchi International Exhibition and Trade Fair' will be held at the Central College Ground in Kilinochchi from 26th to 28th July 2013. The exhibition will bring together institutions involved in agricultural machinery, material, technology and related services to one place within the reach of the Northern farming community. It would be a gateway for them to acquire modern technologies and enhance their productivity said. Mr Luxhman Hulugalle, Director General of the Media Centre for National Security at a media conference held at the MCNS today morning (15th July).
"People want to see the world through this precious international fair" said the Kilinochchi Government Agent Mrs R Ketheeswarn speaking at the conference. She also said that "this will be a great opportunity for local producers in Kilinochchi as its economy is growing rapidly"
Addressing the media gathering Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Kilinochchi) Major General Udaya Perera said that the exhibition is held in Kilinochchi as centrally located with easy access to entire northern region, and also Kilinochchi would be a hub and an ideal location for Northern industrial development. Further speaking he said that the resettled community is looking ahead for agriculture based economic development as majority of them are engaged in farming.
The Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) with the support of Security Forces Headquarters Kilinochchi is involved in organizing this groundbreaking event. They hope this mega exhibition will facilitate and enable small and medium scale enterprises to be competitive provincially, nationally and internationally.
It is expected that a large number of ministries, government departments and private sector organizations will showcase their areas of expertise to enhance the knowledge of the populace on following sectors.
Modern technologies to enhance knowledge of their agribusiness and yield
Build up closer relation among the general public and business communities
Conduct knowledge and technical based lessons to regional entrepreneurs
Provide educational scholarships related to tourism, hospitality and constrictions

The Exhibition combined with sophisticated technologies and knowledge of the business delegations would open new horizons to the emerging business and agricultural communities in the region. Prospective entrepreneurs in the region, investors, and farmers, fishing communities, students and school leavers are also invited to visit the exhibition.
