Security Forces in Kilinochchi has made arrangements to conduct an educational exhibition for school children on 28th and 29th June. The event will see children from northern schools joining hands with their southern counterparts in exhibiting their innate talents under the theme 'For future generation filled with creative ingenuity'.
The exhibition has as its objectives to identify, recognize and encourage school children who demonstrate talents in visual art and creativity in the Kilinochchi region. This is being held under the patronage of Hon. Governor Northern Province Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri and the direction of Security Forces Commander Kilinochchi Major General Udaya Perera.
Security Forces Headquarters Kilinochchi has also included another noble endeavour to award 1800 scholarships to needy school children in the region under its purview.
Rebuilding the education sector of the north and east is one of the major aspects where great emphasis is paid in the national reconciliation process. And the security forces have initiated a number of programmes to facilitate and uplift the educational standards of the children in the former conflict zone.
About 121 schools in the Kilinochchi district, leading schools from South; Royal college, Richmond college, Kingswood college, Dharmaraja college,undergrads from Jaffna Moratuwa, Rajarata and Peradeniya universities have confirmed attendance in the exhibition. This will be a platform to exchange knowledge, cement friendship and bridge the gap between the students of Kilinochchi and the South representing diverse backgrounds and ethnicities.
