Plastic ballet boxes in the provincial council elections

For the first time in the history of elections in the country,transparent plastic ballot boxes would be used in the forthcoming Provincial Council elections.

These ballot boxes would be placed in the polling stations at Matale, Jaffna, Puttlam, Kurunegal and Kandy districts. 250 plastic ballet boxes imported from India.

 These plastic boxes are being used on the initiative of the Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya. The Elections Commissioner earlier said depending on the outcome, he would consider the use of transparent plastic ballot boxes at future national elections.
