» » TNA not decided on CM candidate

The Tamil National Alliance(TNA) says it has yet to decide who will be the Chief Ministerial(CM) candidate for the party during the Northern provincial council elections.
TNA leader R. Sampanthan dismissed reports that the General Secretary of the party Mavai Senathirajah had been named as the Chief Ministerial candidate.


Speaking to Udhayan leader added that the Chief Ministerial candidate for the party will be named only after the dates for the Northern Provincial Council elections are announced.

The TNA leader also said that the party will first need to decide if it will contest the Northern polls and that decision will also be taken after the dates for the election is announced.

News published in the websites noted that the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Jaffna District Parliamentarian and the General Secretary of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK), Mavai Senathiraja, was unanimously nominated by the Jaffna Branch of ITAK as its Chief Ministerial candidate at the forthcoming Northern Provincial Council polls.

According to sources, the Deputy General Secretary of ITAK's Jaffna Branch, and the former Jaffna Municipal Councillor, C.V.K. Sivagnanam, had announced that Mavai Senathiraja would be the Chief Ministerial candidate, at meeting held in Jaffna on Sunday.

The nomination had been informed to the ITAK's leadership in Colombo, sources said.
