Eight mothers who are suspected of being diagnosed with the Influenza A Virus are receiving treatment at the Castle Street Hospital. Director of the Hospital, Dr. W.K.Wickramasinghe said that the necessary treatment is being provided.
An expectant mother passed away on Thursday while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unite of the Castle Street Hospital after being infected with the Influenza A Virus.
This brings the number of expectant mothers who have died at the hospital due to the virus to three. The Director of the Hospital Dr. W.K.Wickramasinghe noted that another expectant mother in critical condition is receiving treatment at the ICU of the Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital.
Director of Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry Dr. Paba Palihawadana said that expectant mothers should remain vigilant in order to avoid being infected with the Influenza A Virus.
